Mourinho: “Messi is fantastic, but he’s not the best of all-time”

Argentina will play the 2014 FIFA World Cup final against Germany this Sunday and if there’s someone who deserve to get the credit for carrying the team until this last stage of the competition, that someone has to be FC Barcelona‘s star, Lionel Messi. The 27-year old footballer scored half of Argentina goals so far and has also been involved in the remaining half.

In his weekly review of the World Cup for Yahoo, Chelsea FC boss José Mourinho commented on the current form of the Argentinian ace and compared him with the greatest players in the game.

Mourinho: “Messi is a fantastic player and he certainly doesn’t need to win the World Cup to prove that. He’s been a truly remarkable and historical footballer in the last decade and whatever ends up happening in this World Cup won’t change that. However, in my opinion he’s not the greatest player of all-time”, stated the former Real Madrid manager.

Messi will be Argentina‘s biggest hope to deliver them the World Cup next Sunday, as they take on Germany at the Maracanã stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. The last time the “Albiceleste” won this major tournament was in 1986, in a period when Diego Armando Maradona was on the helm of the Argentina National Team.
