Antonio Conte resigns as Juventus coach

by

After 3 seasons coaching JuventusAntonio Conte has now announced his resignation from his manager position in the club. According to the Gazzetta Dello Sport in Italy, Massimiliano Allegri and Roberto Mancini are the desired options to succeed to the Italian coach.

The announcement caught the most of the fans by surprise, since Conte had led Juventus to 3 consecutive titles in the Serie A and had just renewed his contract with the club a couple months ago. Last season, Juventus even managed to become Italian champion by breaking the record for the most points achieved in a single campaign (102).

Reports from Italy suggest that the reason for this unexpected resignation may have had to do with different opinions concerning the signings the clubs is planning for this summer. Conte is now one of the strongest possibilities to succeed to Cesare Prandelli as the Italian National Team coach, even though the 44-year old manager might very well prefer to extend his journey in club coaching at this early stage of his career and by doing that, simply wait for a good opportunity on a top European team.

Juventus started their pre-season trainings on July 14 and they have their first friendly game scheduled for July 30 against Cesena, where they’ll be playing for the Trofeo Lugaresi.
