Mourinho: “I love working with Hazard”

by

Éden Hazard joined Chelsea back in 2012, after Abramovich agreed to pay 32 million pounds for the Belgium star. Since he arrived to London, the “Belgium wonderboy” has been adapting to a new culture and a more competitive league, but it’s been under José Mourinho‘s orders that he has finally stepped up to another level.

Mourinho: “I’ve coached many players in my career who simply refused to get involved in defensive actions. When that happens, the only solution is to try building a more compact team at the back in order to protect the team”, started by stating the Portuguese manager, probably alluding to his time in Spain, where he coached Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid.

That’s far from being the case with Hazard though. Besides getting involved in many of Chelsea‘s attacking initiatives, the 23-year old midfielder is also determine to help his side when they don’t have the ball and when it comes to defend. That’s something that Mourinho always appreciates in his players…

José Mourinho: “With Hazard, the problem is not that he doesn’t want to defend, but rather to find the right timings to do so. I’ve been working with him a lot and I told him he has to improve that part of his decision-making process in games. I’m always telling him to focus on reading the game properly”, remarked the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan coach.
