Chelsea are willing to pay 24 million euros for Filipe Luis

by

According to reports coming from Spain and England, Chelsea are very close to signing Filipe Luis, Atletico Madrid‘s left-back. The Brazilian defender has a buyout clause set at 24 million euros and that’s precisely the sum of money that José Mourinho might end up paying in order to strengthen his left wing.

The signing makes even more sense after the departure of Ashley Cole, who has recently traveled to Italy to be presented at his new club, AS Roma.

Filipe Luis is a 28-year old player, who has already been playing in Spain since 2005. He transferred to Atletico Madrid back in 2010, after having wrong Deportivo de La Coruña jersey in the previous 4 years. In the “Colchoneros“, he had 180 appearances from which he scored a total of 5 goals.

José Mourinho seems determined in taking this Chelsea team to another level next season and with this potential signing of Filipe Luis, the Blues will be getting their hands into a 3rd reinforcement coming directly from La Liga, following Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid, 40 million euros) and Cesc Fabregas (FC Barcelona, 33 million euros).
