Real Madrid signs Keylor Navas for 10 million euros

Real Madrid have signed Levante‘s and Costa Rica goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, after agreeing to pay a buyout clause set at 10 million euros.

The 27-year goalie showed off his class during the last FIFA World Cup held in Brazil, where he became one of Costa Rica‘s key players in their campaign until the tournament’s quarter-finals. The “Ticos” surprised everyone when they managed to get out of Group D in first place, leaving behind in the standings several major sides such as the Uruguay, Italy and England. They then got through Greece in the last-16 round, after a penalty shootout decision where Keylor Navas once again turned out to be the hero and the most decisive player of that game.

Reports in Spain are indicating that Navas‘ signing basically means that Diego López is the one who will now leave the club, with Napoli in Italy and AS Monaco in France, being his most likely destinations.

Levante felt forced to transfer Keylor Navas this summer, since the Costa Rica international was about to see his contract expired in a year from now. In any case, Real Madrid ended up paying the goalkeeper’s buyout clause, which corresponded to a 10-million euros transfer fee.
