Real Madrid set Diego López free
It seems like a decision has been made in Madrid. With Keylor Navas signing confirmed, it was only a matter of time until either Iker Casillas or Diego López would see their way out of the club. The weakest link turned out to be Diego López, a goalkeeper who defended Real Madrid colors in 37 games last season.
Despite the recent transfer rumors on Iker Casillas, the 33-year old has somehow managed to convince the club to keep him with them for at least another season. Casillas has gone through two complicated seasons and many still believe that he’s not going to recover his old form back anytime soon.
In order to speed up the whole process of Diego López departure from Madrid, the club has decided to set him free but still pay him the salaries for the 2 years he still had remaining in his contract.
With Keylor Navas‘ arrival scheduled for next Monday, the club hopes to find a closure on Diego López future in the next 72 hours. There are allegedly several teams who are interested in his services, starting with AS Monaco, Chelsea or even Napoli. Whatever the future holds for him, the true Madridistas are certainly thankful for what he has done for the club…
