Liverpool and Manchester United will insist on Reus
Borussia Dortmund‘s star player Marco Reus, has been linked with several top clubs across the World over the last months, but his future remains unknown as we prepare to go into the new football season. The 25-year old has suffered an ankle injury just a few days before the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicked off and has therefore been forced to miss a tournament that Germany so convincingly won by beating Argentina in the final.
In his 2 seasons in Dortmund, Reus has played a total of 90 games for club and scored in 42 different occasions. Excellent numbers if we have in mind that he usually plays close to the wing and that he’s far from being the team’s centre forward. With the German National Team, he already had 21 caps and 7 goals so far.
According to the press in both England and Germany, a couple details on Reus‘ contract with Borussia Dortmund were leaked earlier this week, which suggest that the 25-year old star may have a release clause set at the 19.8 million pounds, but that will only be valid in the summer of 2015.
If this information proves to be true, the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be in the list of the top contenders to sign the German international. While Louis van Gaal remains focused in bringing as much talent as he can to Old Trafford, Brendan Rodgers is also determined in filling the void in the Reds‘ attack, especially after they lost Luis Suárez to FC Barcelona in a 94-million euros transfer.
Reus is currently going through the last stages of his ankle injury recovery and according to the player himself, he might be back to the football pitches by the end of the current month of August, but still miss the German Super Cup final against Bayern Munich and the first round of fixtures of the Bundesliga.
